We are thrilled to inform you about the exciting “Free Solar Panels for Schools” scheme introduced by the Government, offering an incredible opportunity for all primary and secondary schools.
Schools have faced challenges due to escalating energy costs, particularly during the winter months. This programme is aimed at heating schools in a more affordable manner.
The €50 million climate action scheme will cover the entire cost of purchasing and installing six kilowatts of solar PV – approximately 16 solar panels per school, covering 4,000 schools nationwide.

- 30 November 2023 – Applications are open
- 1 February 2024 – Deadline for schools to register for the programme
- 15 March 2024 – Deadline for schools to submit quotes to the Department
- 30 May 2024 – Completion of phase 1 PV Installations
