Schools have faced challenges due to escalating energy costs, particularly during the winter months. This programme is aimed at heating schools in a more affordable manner with Solar Panels for Schools.
The €50 million climate action scheme will cover the entire cost of purchasing and installing six kilowatts of Solar Panels for Schools – approximately 16 solar panels per school, covering 4,000 schools nationwide.

- 1 February 2024 – Deadline for schools to register for the programme
- 15 March 2024 – Deadline for schools to submit quotes to the Department
- 30 May 2024 – Completion of phase 1 PV Installations
